Inhouse product
Drumstick is an important crop for food security and income generation in India. Its leaves are also used as fodder especially during the dry season when feed resources are less available. Production of the crop faces many challenges, among them poor seedlings supply systems. Tissue culture was introduced in India about ten years ago but its adoption is still less /no, largely due to high cost of seedlings as a result of high production cost. There is no tissue culture sector for this crop. As a result farmers have continued to rely on natural regeneration methods to obtain seeds or seedlings. The main objective of this report is to present a one acre bankable model for high quality commercial cultivation of the crop.
